About the John G. & Beverly A. Puente Library

 

The John G. and Beverly A. Puente Library has a collection of more than 10,000 books, audio/video selections and periodicals that support the curriculum. Networked study areas allow you to use laptop computers and other electronic study aids. The library is Wi-Fi ready. Additionally, each workstation has software that supports classes, access to the internet, the Library's Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) , and our Virtual Library which includes ACM DL, LexisNexis, Proquest, Homeland Security, Academic Search Premier, ABI/Inform and more.
 
Connect to the Virtual Library for access to all of the online databases available to you.
 
The multimedia classroom, William G. McGowan Center for Innovative Teaching, has a local area network that connects 15 student computer workstations to all library electronic resources. Each station is configured for multimedia presentations and training programs.

Library Proctoring Procedures have changed as of Spring 2016, please see below.

NEW UNDERGRAUTE PROCTORING SERVICE

To address the on-campus proctoring needs of professors and students, Dean Barker has created an undergraduate proctor service for the remainder of the Spring 2016 semester. The tutoring service in the library is last resort.

WHEN:
The undergraduate proctor service will begin Tuesday, March 8, and will run through May 10. The schedule for the service is:

Tuesday 5 to 8 pm
Thursday 2 to 5 pm
Thursday 5 to 8 pm
Friday 11 am to 1 pm

WHERE:
Room 134 in MCI Hall

HOW TO USE:
Send an email to proctor@captechu.edu. Include the following:

1. Your name and contact information;
2. name of student;
3. electronic copy of the assignment;
4. pass words (if needed);
5. instructions for administering the assignment; and
6. instructions for returning the completed assignment.

Students are responsible for booking time with the proctor service for completing the assignment.

Please tell students to bring photo identification for verification. Assignments will not be administered without positive identification.

If required, students should bring their own computers. None will be available in the classroom.
